I heard you do a collab with some guys where you were playing drums. You had only been playing for a few weeks or something and it sounded pretty cool. I reckon you WILL be the best drummer soon.
 
Copeland FTW, although I do love AVH approach to four-on-the-floor drumming.

Copeland has much more finesse - but if finesse doesn't float your boat you could go with AVH very easily.

Both would have sucked in the other band.

Both bands have great drummers.

It's like asking whether pizza is better than cheeseburgers - It all depends on what you fancy at the time.

Thanks man...I'm loving learning the drums...I wish I had purchased a kit a few years ago.
 
stewart copeland up against alex van halen is like a contest between mike portnoy and tommy lee. this poll is ridiculous.

I actually heard an interview with Sting and he said one of the reasons he didn't get the Police back together was Copeland had a lot of trouble keeping meter. imagine that!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

I think it's actually more like comparing apples to vacuum cleaners.

Well Sting uses Vinnie Colaiuta for the solo work a lot, which; as great as Copeland is, he's just not even remotely as good as VC, or Dave Weckl, or Dennis Chambers, or Peter Erskine, or Gadd, or Carter Beauford.

I have a friend at work who thought Peart was the greatest drummer who had ever lived, bar none, regardless of genre, perios, no exception, and any debqte about it was fighting words. I said "Peart is a hack. All chops, no soul. Listen to this.." And I hit him with some Dave Weckl. He listened for about 40 seconds, turning sort of an ashy gray, and finally said. Ah. Well, yeah, point taken. Wow. I said "I can name 10 guys for whom Peart can't hold their jock just in the jazz and fusion genres alone."

By the way, the Police are back together now, in case you've been on a desert island recently... :)
