Who's cheap gear do you trust the most?

I despise MAudio. Bought a Microtracker. Had it for a couple days.

Had a sound interface for my laptop. Busted it with a hammer. The QC, Customer Service and products suck...

and Germans(where they are from) arent known for customer service anyhow.

What about "Traynor" or don"t they sell Traynor stuff in the USA??

I believe Traynor is a Division of Yorkville Sound which also makes some pretty good Cheapo Stuff....

When I first started out in Music allmost everything I had was made by Traynor and most of the Poor assed Punk rock musicians used traynor stuff as it was all they could afford as it was usually half the Price of anything else and it was very Durrable equipment with a Fair sound...

This old thread eh? Well, I'll add some. Rolls is the worst crap I've ever used. Years ago I had their little 4 channel headphone amp, and one of the channels crapped out on me after a few months of light home studio use. I didn't know how to fix stuff back then either

Then last week I bought their mini mic amp because I needed a pre with phantom and headphone out so I could bench test mics in my workshop. The power supply was so noisy that I had to replace most of the capacitors (upping the filter on the phantom supply by a factor of 200) and the phantom resistors before I got a low frequency oscillation out of the signal Also the schemo that comes with the unit (a nice touch that made fixing it easier, I allow) shows the opamps to be 4580s, but they were actually 4560s, which saves them about $0.30 per unit

Different cheap crap works for different situations; you gotta pick your junk carefully. I like Carvin guitars (they actually ain't cheap, though) and some PA components; I have a Behringer MX9000 that has performed flawlessly for a long time, in bad conditions; Shure SM's and Betas are very effective for the price; and on and on....
I also have a couple of Peavy amps I wouldn't record a phone message off of, behringer effects and small boards that are stacked out by the dumpster, Carvin speaker stands that would hold up a boom box, as well as some fairly high dollar mics that I'm still trying to make pay off.
You gatta know what you want and find what will work.

should have been abkle to say none of the above.... i know everyone has to deal with a budget but some of this stuff is PURE shit.... as atech for 20+yrs all i can say is with peavey you can kick that bitch out of the truck and use it eveby night.... still sounds the same (not sure thats an advantage....)

See when you buy all the expensive stuff that's when you start to gain interest in lofi. I buy equip that costs £5 and it gets more use than some of my more exotic stuff. Ironically my interest in lofi has been increased due to the fact of losing my weekly salary. Granted i use expensive stuff to record the cheap gear but hey, was there any point? Sorry talking to my self, like to make me feel bad.

evryone knocks on behringer, but i like it...

i have the bx3000 bass amp with a bb15 cab, over a year now, and no problems.
ub2442 mixer, no problems, 1 yr+
ada8000, 6 months, perfect.

i ordered an HA4700 headphone amp from them, should be coming tomorrow.

i've yet to have a problem with behringer but i dont abuse my stuff either, im quite gentle and i dont let people use my stuff if they don't know what they are doing.

oh yeah and i have behringer headphones, there not too bad, i let the rest of the band listen with them while tracking.

i dont mind behringer at all, for the money. now im starting to upgrade and get better stuff, im making more money (hehe). sure, im going to replace everything that i have behringer eventually, but i might keep the stuff for backups or whatever.

I've got a peavey 112 bandit guitar combo and love it,it can be a touch harsh but never too loud.I use a Samson power amp with my ns40m's and just love the sound i get. i have used Behringer before, even have a few rack stuff myself (swapped for studio time) that i never use.I won't buy their stuff tho,as i'm not impressed with it.
I find it odd that people can be so caught up in product and company hype and even will only tend to buy gear from certain countries.I say if it's from China or Mars,cost £1 or £100,000, if it gets the job done right and your happy, go with it.Lets face it, companies want that quid in your pocket, even if it means re-inventing the wheel several times!
