Look, this place ain't real life. It's a freak show, and the setting is a men's locker room ... complete with towel-slapping, wet-willies, and shower room dick size comparisons. That's the way it is with an unmoderated forum. It's gym class, and every day there's either no teacher, or we get the pushover substitute. :D If you can't deal with it, then take another class. There might be a few openings in "Home Ec," pottery making, or yoga.

you can certainly tell chessrock is from the chicago area, as every one that I have know from that area talks and acts the same way, I know that is a huge generalization, but most people that I have seen and heard from that area are that way. I guess its just natural for someone that lives in that part of the country to be dicks. I noticed that most of the replys that were sypathetic to the thread were either from the south, or out of the country.
seems like from there on up to the northeast the get less and less friendly.

As for the original post. Im wouldnt personally be able to do the job of mastering the album. I think it needs a little work before it reaches that stage. I also dont have the equipment, the time or the skill to do a competant job on it, sure i could take a stab. what you should be asking is "who wants to Mix my album" Unless of course you are refering to the chineese President Hu Jintao.."Hu wants to Mix My album"..thats something for the Cave (in fact that gives me an idea) :D Or "WHO wants to MIX my album!" Meaning World Heath organisation, or The Doctor. Im not sure any of those really specialize in Mastering either way.

The only thing I might worry about in such an informal situation is sending off my stuff and then suddenly seeing it out on the internet completely under someone else's name.

It seems to me the spirit of a forum like is based on collaberation. I know this was stated, but I agree there are probably plenty of people who want to exercise their mastering chops on someone else's work. If nothing else you get to hear your own project in a variety of different ways.

I mean, if I were to offer my recording services free of charge to a band, what's the harm in that? It could be a mutually beneficial relationship (the band gets a demo, and I get recording experience). Now, I may not know what a microphone is, and the band may not know their instruments from produce, but that's what this forum is for isn't it?

I think the most obvious point that everyone has missed is that we are all sitting on an internet message board effectively wasting time.
If we wanted to improve our skills and help someone in need, with no obligations or pressure by mastering ckyphil's album or at least trying, we could, without leaving our chair. The deck building analogy is inappropriate because that would involve leaving the house.
Some people on this message board need to work on their people skills.
