alright everyone, i'm moving on up.
With the help of Student price discounts, i'm buying a computer - completely dedicated to recording!

Now i dont want a huge rocket ship here, because i dont have THAT kind of money...lol. But usually i can get a lot off the retail price of a comp. So, who's got one they can suggest? www.dell.com is where i will be buying from - and you can create your own comp there too.

Most importantly, though, is what is the best kind of soundcard for a semi-cheap price. All i need is one line imput....i use a mixer if i need to combine more onto one track.

so basically, one that works good with PC's, and one that has good quality.

thanks to anyone who can help - i'm open to any and all suggestions.

The Delta Audiophile 2496 for audio and a cheapy Soundblaster for midi/soundfonts are great choices...together they should cost you about $200.....

I'm not a big fan of Dell, they use their own semi-propriatary stuff (i.e. motherboards), and their cheap-ass plastic cases piss me off. But if you are stuck with them, you will probably be OK.

The card Gidge mentioned is one I am thinking of myself, it seems to have a lot of fans arround here, which is a good sign.
