Hi,

I was just wondering how many people (myself included) use a Hi Fi VCR for recording live music, and how they like it. I think it does an excelent job.

I don't use it for live recording, I do at times use it for mixdown depending on how busy I keep my Tascam RW5000. I must admit it sounds very good.

Hello again,

Thank you for your quick replys. Just thought Id'd tell you how a VCR happened to me. I originally bought two DCC decks at Radio Shack, so I could bounce back and forth. I also bought the service plan, thinking they might break. Well about two years latter one stopped recording, it was fixed for free. Then about a year after that lightning struck and wiped out the other. Then about six months later one of them stopped recording. I took it back, but Radio Shack no longer had the chip it took to fix it, and they also no longer sold DCC decks (dead format). So I was forced to take and equivilently priced item in trade. Well I relluctantly chose a HiFi VCR, and without expecting very good results, hooked it into my recoding setup. Man what a surprise! I didn't think analog could sound this good. It easily beat my old Teac 3440 reel to reel, running at 15 ips. By the way Panosonic makes Radio Shacks VCRs. It's nice to know that for a couple of hundred bucks or less, you can acually get great sound.
