Sure, why not here. I'm a kneub when it comes to 'vid. :D

Home TV, cable, real basic old TV stuff.

I've noticed many times (over the years, different places..) that sometimes during an ad' for example they'll add a new sub screen into the picture. And with that will be some audio hum or buzz. Seems understandable -looks like a new info box layered on' and with it came some sort of noise aberration.

But something recently just the opposite that really puzzled me.
I noticed with the volume up for a quieter program I guess there is a normal low electrical background noise, but if I bring up the cable program info box' overlay- the noise level goes way down!

It's always bugged me the cable audio s/n I was getting was frikin crap (-compared the audio quality it's easy to do in our recording?!
I'm just wondering what the heck is going on, and if it can be that much quieter.. how to get there?

How old is your tv? Sounds more like a bad filter in th audio amp to me rather than noise from the cable/cable box/programming.

It is, very old. We've thought about up-dating. Bottom line I guess we're both more about music and audio than picture'. :D
So would that also account for the differences I'm seeing in the noise?

Until you can check it out on another TV, it could also be your cable provider.
They may be overdriving the signal.

I can sometimes tell when my cable company has a shift change and some kid gets on the board mucking with the settings....

Ok. And how about when it gets quieter (the noise not the program level) from displaying the program info' box? Any guesses on that end?

Hmm
I'm gona cash in on my discovery!
ANTI-OVERMODULATION NOISE REDUCTION
