don't know for sure, but there's a little Larivee logo in the corner of the vid...

Maybe he's a Larivee spokesplayer...like Doyle Doykes(did I spell that right?) for Taylor.

Jacob

He`s got a slick skills routine, but he looks like Gilligan.

isn't that what bassists do?
(assuming because my bassist does the same kind of tricks with the right hand...slappity wappity)

Yep, same thing I was thinking.

The guy is obviously a slick bass player who adapted his chops to acoustic guitar.

Reggie Wooten's been doing that for the past 30 years... where do you think Vic got it from? ;)

(That's true, actually... and Reggie's a pretty slick player, himself. All of the Wootens are.)

Reminds me of a guy Mike Kelsey in Lafayette, Indiana. 12 years ago. This isn't a new idea.

Cool stuff. Acoustics can be *quite* percussive.

Good stuff. All he has to do is learn some proper chords now. :P

that is some sick stuff. Its hard to even tell what he strings he hits with his right hand. I would be truely impressed if he could tab out what he just did.

Seems like he mixed slap bass technique with flamenco (although his rasqueados are not nearly as clean as your average Spaniard).

yah hers justin king go to mediabum.com and hes on their and it says his name

I actually have no idea. Sorry :( . I just know that this video used to be on the Larrivee website and was the opening scene to their factory tour (or something like that). Google his name, and I'm sure you can find out more about it.

Andre Lamar from Austin, TX USA:
Is Justin King your brother? If so...how come you guys don't ever reference eachother in interviews etc.?

Kaki Answers: Justin and I are not related but he is an incredible guitar player and he can write great songs and sing like a champion to boot. How I got signed to Sony and not him is a mystery that I can't understand, but I can only believe it was because I had slightly cooler clothes.

Except that she actually has some musical taste and can actually write and play a melody.

And their technique is completely unrelated.

cool, thanks guys.

Kaki's another amazing player. All this talent and she prefers to play in the subway during the day and in the clubs at night. It's great to hear there are still musicians out there that don't sell out.

BTW, anyone check out his videos on his site? The one with all the recording gear in the background...I don't know what to stare at! Him or the gear!
