Alrighty - this will definitely get interesting (forgive me if it's been done before) but I'd love to see what you pro keyboardists think. Who makes the bestest, most realistikest string sounds out of the major synth manufacturers today?

EMU including all of its possible expansions
ROLAND including all of its possible expansions
YAMAHA including all of its possible expansions
ALESIS including all of its possible expansions
KURZWEIL including all of its possible expansions

Be sure to take the poll, and feel more than free to post who you picked and why!

Crush - the funny part was, I was looking RIGHT AT MY TRITON when I was putting the poll together. Skipped my brain, and definitely needs to be on there.

Kawai also puts out a good string section.

Kurweil - Best for all around lushness and detail.
Korg- Best for big warm pads
Emu- Best for more realistic rosin/bow sounds
Roland- Never heard a string sound that compared to the above.
Yamaha- Motif isn't bad but I haven't really used it.

I like mixing emu with the Korg or Kurzweil for the best big orchestra sounds.

Funny, I never use the string patches on my new synths.

I love my old Arp SE-4 for transparent strings, and my Prophet-5 for fat ones.

The Reason string library that came with v. 2.0 isn't bad. And I've been eyeing the new Halion string Rompler VSTi, but settled today for the Acid string library instead - 1/4 the price.

I should listen to my Alesis (QS-8.1) strings - I bet some are pretty good. I'm guessing my Roland (XP-10) aren't great, and my Kurz (SP-88) only uses them for layering. And my Yam stuff is all FM - never liked FM strings much.

I suppose I'll vote for Alesis...

Kurzweil is the best for all sounds, but for a runner up I would have to agree with Korg O1/W and throw in the M1.
Kawaii is o.k.
Ensoniq is o.k.
Emu :(
Roland :(
Alesis :(
My two cents-

Korg X5 bank A 07 for "lower section string"
Korg N364 bank A 05 for "higher section string"
Korg X5 bank A 47 for analog pad

I'm not gear pimp, that's what I got :)

Hi Guys I am new Here.
I found the Roland XP/JV/XV to have the best real sounding strings specially Marcato fast style.
I heard demos of the SRX-3 Strings Card which is excellent.

I got my Acid Orchestral Library.

What a waste. I coulda had 5 lapdances and 2 beers instead.

6 lapdances and 4 beers at the Vert (the extra beer helps make the Vert girls look better than they really do).

I've been checking out the old Roland M-SE1. The price used ain't too bad (about $110 on ebay) I have an old Korg X3. I like the sound of strings but hey, I'm a drummer so what do I know. What's the deal on the M-SE1 or something else in that cheap range.
