....to be able to post a thread around here...I tried posting this thread 3 times, so I hope they don't all come up once I complete this one.

EDIT: Or sure.....this one with the stupid title comes through. I hate that Murphy guy.

Hey guys...Just finished this tune. Let me know if there's anything that needs fixing, I'm sure there is.

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Thanx

(It should play right away, if the player doesn't screw up. Make sure you're listening to BROKEN BORDERS

You can go to the FREE MUSIC page if you want to download a better quality version than the stream.

Great sound quality, nice and clear. Song is good, mix is good. The whisper "sweet seduction" is buried a bit. Nice background vox, everything sounds great. One of the background vocals doesnt line up on "Im losing space I'm losing time", thats super-picky. Nice flange thang. Oh wait, it's intentional that it doesnt line up, got it the second time.

Excellent, one of your best. :)

I noticed that I get problems posting new threads if the title is too long. It always works if I keep it real short.

With that said, song sounds good, and the mix sounds good too. It's late so I'm having to keep the volume down.

I'm not too crazy about the guitar tone in the intro of the song (first few seconds). But that's just my taste. They sound great when the rest of the instruments come in though.

Drums sound nice and clear. Every instrument seems to fit in the mix real well. Good playing too.

I'll give it another listen tomorrow when I can turn the volume up a little.

Thanx alot, David. Yes, the off-time on the words "losing time" is intentional, but if you think it doesn't really work, let me know. I know why I did it as far as word-play is concerned, but I don't know if it just sounds "off" or not. Thanx alot for the comments, buddy.

(by the way, is the middle part of this tune in 6/8 or 12/8 ;) )

Thanx alot Danny. Yeah, I guess I paid more attention tot how the guitars sounded in the mix as opposed to during the intro alone. I might have to play with them for that part. Thanx for the listen, buddy.

"who do you have to blow?"

It's me:D I was just waiting for you to ask before I let your thread go through

Very nice. Again with the killer drum sounds! The kick really has a nice full bottom without going overboard. Vox sound good. Like some of the effects you chose. Guits nice too. Bass sounds like it's where it needs to be in relation to the kick. I like a little more low in the bass on a song this speed etc. but I'm loving the kick so I wouldn't want to stomp on it.

I will have to listen again when I can get a little more volume going.

Sounds great at these levels though. I expect it will be even better turned up.

F.S.

Cool tune man...I love the way it starts. Very Rock And Roll... :D

Cool chorus vocals...very nice. I love the guitar tone. It really fits this song well.

The whole rhythm is just sort of dirty and nasty. Very good choice of sounds for this song.

Its fine, it's unexpected. I would keep it.

Its whatever the composer says it is. :D In my book, it's 6/8. Congratulations, you join a very small group of rockers. ;)

nice tune, especially the drums.

why isn't the middle section still in 4/4 with a shuffle feel?.. that's what hits me... or maybe I can't count to 6

I've decided it's in 11/8. I'll leave it to whoever to figure it out. :D

Thanx for the listen and the comments, Mix.

I really like the backing vocal thing referred to by DavidK - pun et al.
The only thing I can come up with is that some of the bass runs aren't quite clear - a little definition maybe. You do good bass runs so I'd like to be able to hear them clearly.
This is built, as usual, on a stellar rhythmic base and your construction/mix is really good.
Looks like the next CD will be a killer!
Great work mate.

Thanx alot, Ray. I'm still working in it. I'll see if I can get the bass to sit better. It's hard to judge how present the bass should be in a song when you're the one that played it. I KNOW what the lines are, so I might think they're clear when they're not. Thanx alot, dude. :)

Man, I love the way your mixes sound...very tight and clean...great punch.Got that Rami sound to the chorus...power pop meets hard rock type thing..I like the timing change....quriky change up...guitar solo could come up a tad(but I'm a guitar freek so take that for what it's worth).
Another great jam man...congrats!

Another great job, Rami! It really has your stamp on it. I can't find anything wrong on the cheap speakers but I'll run it through the studio and see if I hear anything. I probably won't, as usual. ;)

That vocal thing WAS kinda weird, though. I see what you're trying to do with it though and it works once you realize what you're doing.

GFJAU!

Man thats awesome! No nits from me. Everything sounds right in the pocket and great as usual. :)

Cool one RAMI. I love the tone of the bass.

I have been playing around with mixing Cynical.....
Doing it out of the box and on the big board with all outboard gear.

Excellent tune RAMI - it really has a classic rock groove. The guitars remind me of Joe Walsh's tones on Rocky Mountain Way. The sound is perfect on that strat - that main "back beat" chord has a great feel to it. The lead break solo guitar could come up a tad in spots, maybe. That flange is a cool new thing I can't remember hearing before - what are you using for that? It's a great production choice. Bass and drums sound good too. If that's your new setup, it sounds like you've got the mics just right. The drums definitely give all your tunes a dynamic edge that carries throughout the song. The change up in the middle is most creative; a time change incorporated in the bridge is another level musically. Overall hot tune - good one.....

:) :D :) :D

Variax, 7-String, Greg, TimboZ and Ido:

Thanx for all the comments and tips. Like I said, I'll work on the bass to get it to cut through without changing it's tone too much.

I deliberatley made the guitar solo part of the mix instead of making stick out. I'll have to think about bringing up a bit if it's too low.

I still have to contemplate the "off-time" lyric. Not sure about it.

The funny thing about this tune is that I had almost finished when I realised that the chorus I had was exactly the same melody as "I'm getting closer to my home..." in "Closer to Home" by Grand Funk. So I had to change up the vocal arrangement in the chorus. There's a guitar still doing the Grand Funk melody in there, but I think I get away with it. It certainly wasn't intentional, but I couldn't understand how I had written such a cool melody. Then I realised............I didn't.

Man, I'm sorry i didn't repsond to you guys. I could have sworn I did, but I had all kinds of trouble posting yesterday, so maybe I did and it didn't go through. (I couldn't even give you any rep :( )

Thanx alot for the comments and the listen, guys. I'm still working on the mix, so it could only get better.......I hope.

TIMBOZ, can't wait to hear "Cynical" mixed by you.

IDO, to answer your question about the flange, it's a WAVES plug-in. I just put it on the whole mix for that part during mastering.

man I love the guitar sound you`ve got on the riff here, best I`ve heard so far.
Just great makes me wanna crank it up, and yes I am crankin it even if its 3 in the night here. :D

Cool Harmonies, very good drivin force behind the rythm section, man you be tight

I also think this tune is well orchestrated, and It sound very 70`s, with a touch Alice Cooper.

Btw love the sound of your Ride (use it more  :D ).

The flanger is very cool and fitting.

Great work man. :)
