That's why they're "new blood".. or newbs for short ;) hard to give back when you don't know much to begin with I suppose.. and if they're here asking for advice that's fair enough.. even after being here nearly a decade I don't spend all my time coaching others.. if something catches my eye I will try to give some feedback though. Usually I visit when I need a second set of ears, that is what this forum is all about ain't it?

But I agree that spammers, if that's what they are, suck.

Don't believe everything you hear. ;)

I'm a cancer of music. :D

If you'd like to get cancer too, just do a thread title search under my name. I've posted probably a hundred songs in here. Some decent, some terrible.

Hi Greg,
The first thread I found, and tried, had an expired link or something, but eventually I found your soundclick page. I am amazed, especially that you do all of that by yourself. My son (the 17 year old) walked by while I was playing one of your tunes, and seemed interested. I told him about your skills (hoping it would encourage him to give it a go - he also plays several instruments, but hasn't gotten totally comfortable with doing the singing bit). So, this may be a redundant question that you've covered somewhere else, but, do you play live, too, or do you just keep it to your studio?

Hidee Hooo Everybody!

Well,
that's better - I now know that some of the greats (& I do mean that) are still lurking about & someof the newer folk have bothered to respond with interest, humour or good manners - thatr's good because they'll be on my listen list.
As for you older denizens - MAKE SOME MUSIC! I've bought 5 albums from people on this forum - Joey, RAMI, Wig, LPC, Walter Tore, my own personal pre pressing of Ido1957, that's right - you're good enough to pay for. I expect, when Greg gets it together, to buy another SSSSSOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN I hope. Where's that certain proggy scandanavian gone with the release of his LP/CD too! I'm not shy about spending on quality.
I mean, when did a fortnight pass without another RAMI classic?
Um, I've been a bit lax of late m'self - Terry & I have three or four things in the fire BUT, there's always a but or a butt in the way!
True, the gentle spank approach is sorely needed amongst this lot!
OK, wheat from chaff - time for me to listen!

Right. I'm talking about the guys that pop in, post their myspace link, and then are never seen or heard from again. There's been a lot of that lately.

Yeah I took my original stuff down. I'm working on my album and I'm kind of redoing some stuff so I don't want the older versions up there. What's left is some covers and older stuff from when I sucked worse than I do now.

I do play live. I play the drums in an original material band here in Houston. We gig about once a month and it's not too serious. It's just for fun.

Hey Greg, I did like what you suggested to click your name and [see] some of your stuff but the first three pages are posts full of insults and shit. What's up Man? I want to check out the 'amazing Greg' and all there is is 'People fucking their hand' and 'Wanking guitar player Dude' and stuff like that.
Where's the music?
[Show] me the music, Man!

PS: About people of before, Where's IcyStorm?

Search threads in the MP3 clinic.

Will do. Take care Mate. Watch when you handle those sharks; one might slip out of your hands and as you cradle it in towards you might clench its jaws onto your willy.

you know, some people prefer to stay beside the crowd and watch the others..
I might be new here, but I read a lot of new post.. learning.

I posted my "song" or I should say "exercice" lately.. and didn't post a lot after, but it doesn't mean I'm not reading/participating on the sie.

I am sure there are a lot of people doing like me on that site, and I'm sure most of them don't even post songs because they are intimidated by people like you :)

Then they're not actually reading because I've been very active in giving feedback and asking for feedback on my own stuff ever since day 1 of me joining here. I'm a total hack, and if I do anything good it's because of what I've learned from the people in here.

That's excellent Greg. Sloop John B is excellent.
But there's no way you should be anti established norms for sound/ progressions etc; even though you made Rudolf from a ballad to an exciting ska pumping thing, there's still the foundation there. I know now where you come from about having artistic licence though.

I think we're having a communication breakdown. I'm not anti-norm at all. I don't know where you got that from. I have no problem whatsoever with 3-chord simple rock and roll. Pretty much everything I do is guitar/bass/drum simplicity and I steer way clear of weird experimentation. I'm not one of those guys that breaks out the theory textbook and tries to cram as many chords as I can into a song. I just wanna rock.

Ugh, slowly. I keep going back and forth on different things. I don't know why I'm nitpicking this thing that no one is gonna listen to. :D

Greg,
Don't worry it into a serious concept!
With your ear for detail you could tweak & remake forever & not get to where you're comfy.

Getting back to the original comment; well, everyone was new once! It takes new blood to keep a forum alive. And it takes a poor administration to kill it. It's not the members that kill a site. Which is what we are starting to see here.

For 6 years I was the Admin of the #1 site for a certain brand of boat, 20,000 members strong - and I know what you mean about wondering where all the oldtimers go. It happens everywhere, for different reasons.

Sometimes what happens is that the hardcore members get frustrated enough to start their own site, free of all the clutter and sludge that inevitably happens when a site is "sponsored".

I confess. I'm one of those guys that tries to cram as many chords as I can into a song.

My record is 42 1/2.

:D

Who Are These People & Where Do They Come From?
Seriously - I don't want a forum dominated by l'ancient regime but it's nice to recognise a name occasionally.
Where have you folk gone to & can I come too?
