Nice track man!

I like the guitars, nice sound on them.

Only thing I can suggest is that you put in a fast attack, slow release gate on the toms. They ring out too much in the intro to me, but maybe deliberate?

Another solid mix. I got nothing.

I'm impressed with how well the crash sits in the mix. Normally I can't stand it when a drummer spends half the song wailing on the crashes every beat because it just muddies things up, but it works alright here.

It's probably more that than anything having to do with compression. That makes sense, because this is FAST and I can see not being able to whack that snare on the back-beat the way you would be able to in a slower song. That also explains why the snare sounds fatter in the intro flam. You were obviously able to hit it harder and differently there. I wouldn't re-track it, though. It's notwhere near needing a re-track. Just a little thing I noticed. It's still right up there in quality sound-wise, meaning somewhere between "really good" and "awesome".
Cool thanks again. I tried fattening the snare up some without going overboard and raised the drums a little overall. New mix up top.

LOL at "I'm spitting in a cup"

I live in West Virginia and that really hit home! No one here has any teeth left! Fucking love it man.
Lol. Thanks man. :D

Thanks. Yeah the booming toms are deliberate.

Thanks dude. I have a pretty sweet Crash/Ride. It's a 20" Paiste RUDE. It gets an awesome smooth wash if you play it right and it doesn't really reveal the individual hits. It just gets loud and washy. It's heavy. It's like a freaking manhole cover. Probably my favorite cymbal in my setup.

as always ..... GREAT mix and song and performance!

Not used to you playing something so mellow though!

:D:D:D:D:D

Gregalicious!
There's so much balls packed in there, it would take a truck to carry them......!:D
Love the tempo changes and blazing guitars.
So....anyone wanna join me in breaking something?????:drunk::D

Lol. Thanks Joey and Lt Boob. :D

Bah humbug. Gergly. Gah. Why? I actually think the drums can come up a tiny bit. Maybe a bit more snare too? The guitars sound great in this one. Bass and vocals are good as usual. Cool song.

Cool, thanks. Drum levels seem okay to me, but I'll check it in a few days. I'm not listening to this thing again till maybe monday or so. :D

Go Paiste! My two main crashes are Paiste's. Nothing at all like a RUDE, but Paiste's nonetheless.

Overall it freakin' rocked. Very different from the stuff I usually hear from you. What reverb are you puting on your kit? The transient of the snare seems to last forever. You don't have a Transient Designer, do ya? Same for your toms.. Very, very long decay. The drums are more buried than usual, too, which in this one, I don't think is a bad thing. Your guitars sound really, really good, and seem to cover a very broad spectrum. They seem to cover a lot of the meatier hihat freqs, as well as the freqs of the snare transient. That's probably why the snare was so tough to mix.

Anyhow, sounds great. Very, very full, and arrangement-wise, kicks butt. Love it. Listened twice on my Grado SR225's and didn't sound bright at all (and these suckers are *bright*) - in fact, sounded very balanced through all instruments. I really enjoy listening to your stuff.

Man, I love the changes in this tune. Creative as hell. Toms sound awesome. Snare sounds great now. It sounded fine before, but it cuts through more now. This really rocks.

Well done. That's some kick-ass rock and roll right there.
Thanks dude. :)

Thanks PI. Um, the reverb on the kit is a convolution reverb that I use in Reaper. I don't know where it came from. I found a ton of impulse files on the net and this one's called "wide chamber". I have no idea what a transient designer is. The toms actually sound that way. Compression is bringing out some boom from the toms, but they really do boom on their own. I like em that way. I play live a lot. You gotta have some body to your kit when you play live or it sounds like ass. I don't like dead lifeless toms. Same with the snare. This is what it pretty much sounds like in the room. It's snappy. Maybe too snappy. It sounds great when I wail on it though. I've been trying to make my more recent mixes "fatter" for lack of a better word. Maybe fuller. Bigger. More everything. More natural drum sounds and fatter guitars and bass. I'm trying to get away from the stark isolation I used to mix with. These hopefully sonically bigger songs are all going on one album. I could have mixed this with a lot of isolation between the instruments, but I want it to be a sonic assault of everything. I'm totally fine with throwing dynamics out the window. :D

Thanks a lot Rami. I trust and respect your opinions on drums. I appreciate the feedback. :)

I finished reading Rainbow Pie - A Redneck Memoir recently. Excellent book. It certainly explains the development of the rural - now urban - underclass and some of their predelictions.
Excellent song, performances, recording & mixing.

Thanks Ray. I see it firsthand all the time. White trash is everywhere.

Totally love the anti-brain-dead sentiment of the lyrics... At the end with that lovely swirling section I was expecting to hear a lead guitar struggle forth and ejaculate... but I'm a bit cheesy that way.

Thanks dude. I totally hear ya about a lead in the ending. It would fit there. I thought about myself. That's exactly why I left it out. I refuse to give the people what they want! :D

Sounds absolutely fantastic, But I can hardly hear the vox at some parts, I'd maybe give them a tiny nudge up. I don't know if I'm the only one hearing this, but other than that it sounds great.

Although I never listen to that genre either, I'm used to quite upfront vocals etc.

But yeah, sounds great!
