white stripes effect

out of interest does anyone know what the effect is on the solos from the song "ball and biscuit" by the white stripes? it sounds like it might be a fuzz factory? or some sort of fuzz mixed with another pedal?

youtube it if you havent heard it. some great guitar playing imo.

I just assumed it was a really trashy amp cranked WAY up.

jack white usually plays through fender combos like the twin reverb n' such.
i heard he uses the digitech whammy which has a bunch of options like octave stuff so that with the cranked fender probably gives it that tone, but who knows what else i've only seen them live once.

The one on the bottom is the rig he used on that album. The guy writing about it is wrong about his use of the MXR Micro Amp; he uses it as a clean boost for solos. There's also no volume drop from the Digitech Whammy--it actually slightly boosts the signal.

he uses two effects on ball and biscuit : Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi, and Digitech whammy on the one octave up setting. thats all. I have both pedals and I play that song all the time.
