Motif

I recently traded my 61 KEY Triton for a Motif. Here are my thoughts.

The sounds in the Motif are amazing...blow the Korg Sounds away...BUT...the user interface is way better on the Triton.....the touchscreen and the loop feature make it easy to make your ideas into music before you forget what you were trying to accomplish in the first place. also, the effects on the triton are better (IMO) especially the compression.

so, why did i trade? the sounds. i use Cakewalk & outboard gear, so the sequencer/interface isnt that important to me.

just my 2 cents

BlackDrum

PS-i produce House & Hip HOP

since i have the connects.. i'ma get them both :) the triton studio76 sounds are better than the regular triton and it has new sounds.
i produce hip-hop and r&b...i'm also getting a mpc4000 and a d8b with in a few weeks

Before you buy...

Do yourself a favor, get an fully loaded (ram plus the 8 output expansion board) Yamaha RS7000 (tabletop Motif sounds w/mpc-type sample capabilities - 2 pads, u don't need more, think about it - it also has PHAT-AS-A-GORILLA'S ASS realtime time-stretch capabilities on any 4 samples), a D8B, (in june thru sept you get most of the acuma labs plug-ins free, plus decent discount coupons on lots of others including the Massenburg joint - also get 2 UFX cards plus 3 i/o cards FREE), and either get yourself a nice midi keyboard controller (check FATAR - get one that can control everythig including velocity and shit), or, if you got a bit more loot, another "real" keyboard like a triton LE (cheap, but good enough sounds).

Trust me when I tell you this. Holla back if u got questions.

i really don't care for the rs7000...plus to the Mpc4000 its just not there..it can compete with the mpc2000xl but not the 4000...i'm getting a mpc4000. the Trion LE, i don't want.. i work on a korg trion every week...the korg triton studio76 is what i'm getting..the one with the cd-r and new sounds. i'm also gonna buy a motif.
i'm not new at this..i know what i'm getting
but yo Flo' Dolo...check you PM

don't know how this got bumped to the top...

...since the date is so old (maybe my browser or the site is acting up), but since it is, i gotta say something...

1) My bad, rs sounds are diff. from motif, but still serviceable.

2) why get the triton studio when you're generating sounds with MPC and your dog's boards, too? If anything, you'd need an external CD burner, right?

3) Why pay for a sampler on your board (when you can get a comparable board without one, unless you go Motif) when you're buying an MPC?

4) MPC4000 doesn't have the same dope functionality as the other MPC models - you better check its' editing features and so on before you plunk down your cheese on it. If you don't believe me, you betta ask somebody (for real, money).

5) If time-stretching isn't important to you and you make beats (and no, i'm NOT loop-crazy), then cool, forget about the RS, but I figured that those capabilities would be a plus, not to mention all the "free" sounds that come with it.

6) Dog, I never assumed you were or weren't "new" to this, and if you know what you're getting, cool. I only offered my opinion because you asked.

7) I guess you by now you got all your goodies. Have fun, money...
