Not sure which pack to go for with the UAD. Any users out there that can tell me which one would suit my needs best?
I will be recording guitars/bass DI and then reamping through both my Triaxis/2:90 rig and Boss GT-Pro. I have an Eventide H3000D/SE for effects but I prefer to be able to tweak for non destructive editing (eg via software). The UAD Ultra Pack was recommended to me by some guys here but I was wondering if it might e overkill for what I actually need...
I will only be doing work to reamped guitars & bass and DFHS for drums. No vocals or live drums. Is Ultra Pack too much or would the Studio Pack do? What plug-ins would you say suit my needs the most? Music style is instrumental prog metal - I can't mic up cabs and or loud amps because I work from home and have a wife and kids.
Advice is appreciated.
One other question, does he DSP card allow real time tweaking of effects? Or do you have to set the effects, process them then get a new wav file (as per regular VST plug-in effects)?
Bear with me re the newbie questions, I'm only getting into engineering my own stuff - sick of giving over big money for studio time. I figure I can at least get guitars done 80% at home then get an engineer to do the final mix and live drum stuff.
