Hey there

I'm looking to buy a tuner pedal for playing live, and I'm looking at different models. At the moment, I'm trying to decide between a Boss TU-2 and a Peterson Strobostomp. Do any of you use these pedals? I'd really appreciate knowing how happy you are with them. And, if you've used both at any time, how they stack up against each other. Or do can you recommend a different model of tuner pedal?

I've checked a couple of other forums and noticed that the Strobostomp gets higher ratings overall than the Boss, but I think fewer people have use them than the Boss. Also, there's the extra cost for the Strobostomp - but if it's worth the extra bucks.....

Any help greatly appreciated.
cheers,
J.

I have the VS1 and the stomp box is the basic same inside minus a few unneeded features.

The VS1 is the greatest tuner outside of the full sized real Peterson tuners.

I don't know how much the stomp box version is, but if you can afford it, then go for it.

I used to have TU-2's on my pedalboards. Now I have Strobostomps and they are great. The display is readable even at high noon with the sunshining directly overhead, the TU-2 display would disappear. They are much more accurate than the Boss pedals, and the sweetened guitar setting really does sound better. I also have a VS-1 that I keep on my workbench for setting up my guitars. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! :D

Thanks for the advice guys. It's great to know.

Out of interest, can anyone recommend a good internet mail-order place to buy music equipment from? I need to find somewhere that ships to New Zealand. Or else I could get a friend to buy it in the UK and ship it to me. Any suggestions?

cheers

Do they even have electricity over there? Or down there? or whereever that is?

;)

Musicians Friend or Zzounds probably ship world wide. If not check American Musical Supply or SamAsh.

Queenstown is in the South Island - extreme-sports mecca and birth-place of bungy-jumping - the national grid is run off of the testosterone that fills the bars there at night. :D

Thanks again for the tip.

The only one I've ever used is the TU-2. Never had any problems with it. I like the ability to be able to cut the signal or not depending on how you set up the output. I should mention that my band is yet to play an outdoor gig.
