I want add a something to my recording list since I'm selling an old drum set of mine. We are using a Peavey RQ mixer of a friends of ours right now.. but I was wondering which would be of greater use.. a mixer? or a vocal effects processor?

If you are using n-track or something else on your pc that uses VST or DX plugins a effects processor would be a waste of money. I'd check out what mixers have the best preamps and look at getting it.

some people like having a compressor (somebody recommended the Behringer). but i think it's best to record as clean as possible, with a minimum of effects. why not add effects after during mixdown on whatever machine you're mastering on. by and large, once you add effects at the source there's no going back...

joe-
I just got a behringer ub 2222 pro fx mixer, and I will tell you it is amazing..
Ive heard people knock behringer on other boards but for me its perfect, plus it comes with effects. I know from your music you are alternative/emo like myself so a vocal processor might be overkill

i got this mixer from zzounds.com, its a factory resealed and i paid 250 for it...id take a look if i were you..
