Which Soundcard For Use With Lambda and Reaper, on Windows XP?

Hi! - OK...So it seems I have to get a new soundcard to resolve my controller issue, as the soundcard I have now is old and really basic. I've decided to get a Lambda, and will likely be using it with Reaper (being as I'm on a tight budget). I'm running Windows XP SP3 and like I said, it has an old, really basic soundcard, that I'm already having trouble with, in just trying to get my keyboard controller to work. I know I need to get a new soundcard, but I don't have much $$ to spend. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what type of soundcard I would need, that would work well with the above described system. Hoping not to spend more than $60.00. Less would be even better. Or is this even possible?

Do not understand....

Are you buying a Lambda or looking for alternatives to it?

The Lambda IS an external soundcard and you do not need another one with it; it REPLACES the internal 40-cent soundcard....

OK....that is what I thought initially, but I was led astray by other information. Thanks for the links!

Question: I have an M-Audio KeyRig49 keyboard controller, and cannot get it to work with my current system, likely due to the crappy soundcard (see my other posts on this). Will this be resolved once I get an external interface?

Do you know if the Lambda is USB 2.0? I keep getting conflicted info on that one, and it's frustrating.

I've been avoiding getting into computer recording, because I knew it would be a pain, especially with PC!

Sometimes it's easier to just ask someone than to search hundreds of internet pages.

When you walk into a big store do you search every corner for what you're looking for or do you ask an employee for direction.

Let's try to lead noobs in the right direction rather than telling them that they are on their own.
 
Lambda is Not 2.0....

Info regarding whether or not the Lambda is 2.0 was not easy to find, and also somewhat misleading. USB specs were vague. I checked the manual online and found that the Lambda "supports" USB 2.0, but no mention of whether or not it was a 1.1 or 2.0 unit. So.....I wrote/called Lexicon, and got vague answers from them too, until I pressed and asked if the unit sends info at USB 1.1 speed (meaning not at 2.0 speed). The answer? YES.

Beware the lingo!
