Currently I have a Audiophile 2496 and I love it. But I am finding that only 2 inputs are limiting. So I have decided to upgrade. I have narrowed it to two option (unless you guys have others).

1. Option one is to buy another 2496 for $99 and sync it to my current with a spdif cable.

2. Option two would be to buy a Delta 44 for $149.

If I went with option 2, which is the way I am leaning, what use is there for my 2496 since I don't use midi (yet) or spdif?

You shouldn't get the Delta 44. While it will WORK, it won't be the best because of the fact that you won't have a way of syncing it with your Delta Audiophile.

Get a Delta 66, and you'll be able to sync it via SPDIF.

Remember, you can combine any of the Delta products into the same machine. So, if you had a Delta 66 and your Audiophile, you have 6 analog inputs and 4 digital inputs. You can put up to four Deltas in one machine at once (though past 2 cards, I hear most people have trouble unless their running the most pristine of computer setups...)

Another option would be to go with something that has an ADAT in. I think terratec makes a cheap ADAT card. You could buy something like the Behringer ada8000, which gives you 8 xlr ins and run that via adat to your computer and have 8 mic inputs. I'm not sure, but maybe you could run that and your delta card.

You could get the terratec, i think it's the Terratec EWS88D, for under 100 used and the ada8000 for bout 200 or so. It's a little pricier (~300 for the whole thing), but you'd have 8 usable mic pre inputs. The ADAT Lightpipe thing is pretty cool.

You could also go with the Delta1010LT.

For $220 you could s/pdif it to the audiophile for a total of 10 analog inputs

Thank you for all your help. I decided to go with the Delta 66. It should be here in a few days.
