I've used Logic for years and recently upgraded to 5.2
I bought my first version {Logic Audio Discovery} because it came as a complete kit with card and all. Once you get used to a software program its difficult to switch due to learning curves. I got Logic down pat !!! Its very reliable and professional software that has been proven in studio's world wide. I dont think i'll ever switch. Never crashes! It is difficult to learn at first. Took me about 4 years to figure it out, and I still dont really know all of it. But it certainly rocks !!
Can you tell me why I can't use and even find the effects?
See here's my situation... I bought Cubase Sx for $345, and when I bought my Delta 44 Logic 4.8 came with the soundcard for free.
So I am thinking of selling Cubase, but I liked the trial version I had a lot.
To me Logic seems ok, but I can't even find the effects, and I can only record 4 tracks because my breakout box only have 4 ins. How do I get around that?
Another thing I should mention is that Cubase Sx has a drum machine so I can then sell my Alesis SR-16, and it has a Synth already loaded.
To use effects, go to the track mixer. Click & hold one of the two insert buttons on the desired track. A flip menu appears, this is where all of yor effects units are located. Once you click on one, it will pop up on the screen for tweaking.
If you are recording multiple tracks at one time, then you are limited to 4 due to the breakout box. You will need a mixer or upgrade to the delta 66 or 1010 or some other breakout box.
If you only track one at a time your in good shape with the 44.
As far as synths, does your logic version come with the ES1 or EXS24 ??
Yeah I record one at a time, but I can't record more then 4 tracks.
I record into in-1 into track-1, >and the same for the rest of the tracks, except when I go to track-5 I plug through in-1 and get a horrible, horrible feedback, and no sound from in's 2,3,4 when recording to track-5.
Weird...
I don't know if it comes with ES1 or EXS24, I'll have to check.
I got another CD-ROM with the package, Gigastudio24. Don't know what it is yet.
If they supplied you with the full blown version of 4.8 which would be a hell of a deal, then you should be able to record up to 24 tracks. Set all tracks within the mixer to input 1-2 and outputs to 1-2 which will send all audio output to tracks 1-2 for a test.
Giga studio is a shitload of synths and drums, etc...Should give you a pile of samples to use, however I dont think its compatible with logic, or it may be now. You will have to check their website for compatibility. You would also need a Logic sampler such as the EXS24 to make use of the samples.
Spin,
I use the software alone, no control surface. If you know Sonar or any program well, then logic is basically the same just different screen sets you have to get used to. Logic offers the Logic 5 control module if your willing to fork out the bucks for it.
cause its the bomb and it sounds dope.
its pretty, functional, and god damn hard to use (so it must be good right?).
I dunno, i have it and i use it, im sure cubase sx is awesome as well, and so is Pro tools.
when you get into the higher end softwear titles i think its really just which one you prefer interface wise, obviously with some functionality choices.
Once you stray away from lower lend things like acid, even cakewalk, and some of those other cheaper, or free recording softwear titles.
