Which recording software to pick

I have not had issues with Audition crashing. I have actually found it to be a nice upgrade from CEP. My ownly beef with it is that it won't run EZdrummer. It doesn't have the greatest VST support, but until I get my PT9.0 from Sweetwater, it will still be my goto DAW and I will for sure keep it installed even after getting PT.

To the OP, Reaper is a good starting DAW. It has a nice demo you can play around with and is only like 40 or 50 bucks to fully buy if you do choose to stick with it. It's a nice starting ground. I have not used it enough to give a more seasoned response though.

Reaper absolutely pwns the eff out of Audition in terms of value and features and low CPU load. It even runs all the VST's and VSTi's that AA wont. It has all the multitrack functionality and more. I run CEP2 as my sound editor and I am set.
