OK,

So I know that it's basically impossible to get an objective answer regarding which software is the best all around performance/quality/yadayada wise, but I'll ask anyways. I use Cubase5.1 for tracking, feel comfortable with it and will continue to use it. I own the full version of Wavelab 3.0 and like it alot, I also have demos of Cool Edit Pro and Sound Forge 5.0 and was basically just wonderin if you guys thought there were features in either/or CEP, SF or like wave editing programs that are very useful and not found within WL and would merit my going out and buying the full versions? I have the Waves Gold Bundle and Restoration plugs along with a few free DX plugs that I implement for "mastering" in WL. Are there plugs in CEP or SF that are extremely useful and again merit their use along side WL? How bout any other programs that serve a similar purpose?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas!

I've used both Wavelab and Sound Forge. I prefer Wavelab hands down.

The one thing I did like from SF is the Wave Hammer Volume Maxizer, which has no equivalent in Wavelab. But I'm using the Waves L1 now, so I don't miss the Wave Hammer at all.

Really? Wavelab over Soundforge? I'm the opposite. I guess it's personal preference.

Yes, I totally agree with Lucid. Samplitude is the best!!:D

Since you already use cubase for tracking and are satisfied, then the only thing that might be of use to you would be an editor like Sound Forge or Wavelab.

I've never used Wavelab. I love Sound Forge. It does all the dirty, less-glamourous work that your multitrack software often neglects. Microscopic edits, file transfers, re-sampling, bit-conversion with good dither algorythms, multi-band compression, pitch-bending, time-stretch, fade-ins/outs, etc.

The only thing I do not recommend it for are it's effects and eq plugins, but Waves can usually handle those chores just fine.

Yeah that's the thing I found is that SF seems to be better at getting at those teeny eeny sections, however it takes sooo long to process em while WL is almost realtime. How bout some CEP users, what's the advantages???

CEP does not feature anything in realtime.

samplitude will do everything. amazing program. you should at least check it out.

No worries lucid, the demo is being downloaded as we, err I, speak. Thanks man! Oh, does it have burning capabilities?
