I'm going to record mostly acoustic guitar, electric guitar & bass, vocals etc at home with condenser and dynamic mics and also direct.

For preamp I have concidered Art tube MP Studio V3 or DBX mini-pre. Does anyone have any clue which one is better for guitars and vocals?

How about sound card? I would need only 2 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs (balanced inputs would be nice) with good quality A/D converters (24bit/96kHz). How about ST Audio DSP24 Value (inputs are unbalanced though)?

My budget is about 120$ for preamp and 160$ for sound card.

Audio sport Duo. I have done that same thing with it and it can work as sound card and preamp in the same box. Go read about it. No digital in though, only out.

That is song I recorded for someone using only that little box Cool Edit Pro and Waves R-verb. Oh yeah and 2 MXL 603's and 1 V67. Listen and then you decide. It is a pretty decent pre for the money and it has SPDIF out and analog out. It can be used in USB mode or in Stand Alone mode as an A/D converter. It can also be run 24/96. Think about it as an option. Oh yeah it is $259 normally.
