Which monitor?

Which monitors would you pick?
Dynaudio's BM5A
Genelec's 8030A
or
ADAM A7
I know you need to A/B them but just out of spec or experience
which would you go for?
They're all in the same similar price range except for the A7's which are slightly cheaper.

You can't really go wrong with any of those products - it's down to which ones will suit you best. Grab some CDs that epitomise ideal mixes. Grab some other CDs that represent flawed mixes. Go to the store and take your time to listen. Your ears will tell you which is right for you.

I fully understand that when picking a pair of monitors you do need to test them out, but all the things I've been reading say that there actually is quite a substantial difference between these 3 monitors. For instance, the genelec's drivers do not go as far down in frequency as they do in the dynaudios.
What I really would like to know is if these speakers are natural, corresponding with other peoples systems and outputting a natural, correct, sound which does the job well.

so if anyone has experience with any of them

Aviv, which color is best? Blue? Red? Green?

Is Lexus better than BMW, or are either better than Mercedes?

As far as build quality, they are all reliable brands; one does not stick out above the others in most folks mind.

As far as actual sound, there is a substantial difference in sound, which is exactly why our opinions mean nothing, and you need to determine it for yourself, because there is also a substantial difference in everyone's ears and tastes. What sounds best to me is not necessarily what sounds best to iqi616, and what sounds good to either of us is probably not going to be what sounds best to you.

Take as many opinions from here as you want. But it would be faster and just as accurate to just put the three names in a hat and pull one at random.

Yeah ofcourse, Its just these choices cost quite a lot of money in the UK and I wanted some general opinions.
Ill see if my local music shop can order the genelecs in so I can compare.

I recommend working with a sales rep who understands that you can't make a final decision until you can actually try them out in your studio and that you may have to take advantage of their exchange policy, because buying monitors is not much different than buying a pair of shoes. You gotta try 'em on before you know if they'll give you blisters or not.

I doubt that they will order a pair of Genlecs just for you to demo; if they do, they will really be bending over backwards for you. As tough as I may sound on retailers, I wouldn't expect that from them. You're asking them to commit $1500 to inventory just so someone can open up the boxes and listen to them with - at best - only a one in three chance of actually buying them. I know if I were the sture manager, I'd ask you to take the needle out of your arm first ;) :).

If they don't have them, drop them from your list. If you can't get a good mix out of a pair of Dynaudios or Adams, you have other problems than just monitors going on. (Assuming you're not setting up in an empty untreated closet.)

Check with the Genelec importer to find out where your nearest stockist is.

I've spent 15k+ in there so they like me quite a bit, but yeah il just see, its all looking up.
