What?

Hi. I'm pretty green in regards to building a home recording studio. I'm setting this up for a live internet radio show. Can you folks recommend me a couple of mixer's suitable for my needs? I'm honestly looking to spend under $300 on the mixer since I'm on a super tight budget.

I want to be able to set up 4 mic's. Two of them will be either AT 2020's or AT 2035's so I know the board has to be phantom powered. Then I will set up a PC for playing mp3's off of and possibly a 2nd pc for skype phone calls. And then Ideally I'd like the option of setting up a cd player also. I would like each of those to have it's own fader. So by my count that's 7 faders.

As far as outputting I'm going to be sending this into a small compressor/limiter then into a usb interface then into the PC for recording in cool edit pro2.1. I've been told I can use either an XLR output or 1/4 output for that, Is that correct? I'd be fine recording all on one track. I believe I also need to output another one of the faders into the skype computer so they can hear the mix-minus into a sound card in the computer. I was told that needs to be a 1/4 output, does that sound right?

These are the 3 boards I am looking at. From reading those boards so far I've already gathered that The Behringer's are not well regard so I'm already leaning toward the other two if they fit my needs.

Will any of these work for my needs? And If so which one is the best? If not can you direct me to a mixer for under $300 that could do what I need? Thank you.

Why don't you see if you can get a little more money and get a used Allen Heath or equivalent used on ebay or craigs list.

Like the ZED 14? http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Allen-&-Heath-ZED14-USB-Mixing-Console?sku=630271&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=81282141

Are you recommending something else, because none of those can handle what I want or because of quality? Does the Mackie profx12 have the faders, inputs, outputs for what I want to do?

Thanks for the feedback.

A decent interface, rather than a mixer is probably what you really need.
Have a wee look at the M-Audio, Fast Track Ultra.

I was just going to go with the Presonus AudioBox interface, because I would really rather use a mixer. Would any of the the above that I mentioned have the inputs/outputs for what I'm trying to do?
Thanks for the feedback.

When you go with a mixer, you are pretty well stuck with your mix.
Use an audio interface and download a DAW and you have all the time in the world to mix it right. :)
