ok, well, i'll be truthful, my friends have different programs then me that they can get me. I have cubasisVST, and N-track studio. I can get protools and a few more from my friends. I'll be truthful, I got the project pack from CubasisVST with the project card, and CubasisVST sorta sucks. Cubase is way better. However, I just wanted to know, what you guys suggest I use. I can get N-track studio (i have it), CubasisVST (i have it), Cubase (I have it), and protools. I know how to use cubase already, and n-track pretty well, however I haven't tried protools. Is the recording quality pretty good? Should I get another soundcard or is this one ok? I don't know very much as you can tell.

If it's pro tools free, the most soundcards work. With LE mix or mix plus you need digidesign sound cards like for le the 001 sound card, but I belive it comes bundled with the software.

one more thing

should I get a pod amp modler?? Is it really worth it for recording/playing?? thanx.

I think your quality will be determined more by your sound hardware than your software. N-Track at 24 bit sounds great to me.

On the pod, if you want lots of sounds then its good. Heres my personal problem with it though:

I have a sound in my head that I always get. Whenever I am sitting in with friends, or a P&W group, or whatever, I am always told that they can tell when I am playing with a group because my sound it added to the mix. It's a specific sound, you will hear it in some form in all that I do. A pod is useless to me because it mimics other sounds, not the one I have been able to create after years of trying. I think more people should concentrate on something unique rather than a sound created by someone else and put in a box.

Sorry to rant a little:)

I haven't used it, but I think that the POD would be great for people without the expensive amps, mics, and guitars to create their "sound". Sometimes its necessary to mimic other sounds until you can get good enough gear to create your own.

Something else to check out is the Johnson J-Station, I've heard that its quite a bit better than the POD.
