I am currently setting up a home studio and am on a very tight budget. I can only afford to spend about £100 on a condenser microphone. I am considering a behringer B1 or an MXL990. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these mics and could point me in the right direction.

Cheers

If you can use ebay...I got a mxl v67g (which has got more praise than the 990 i think) shipped from the US to Norway for approx. 60 pounds.

Also the Studio Projects B1 will run you about 60 pounds.

Oh, they also have a GT33 for 99 pounds...but i doubt it's any good for vocals...But the rrp is 299, so you have to wonder...I don't know....

Guitars and vocals is all
Electric or acoustic gtr... and what are you recording to (tape, workstation, computer, etc), phantom pwr?

well im guessing by guitar you mean acoustic, apparently the thomman t.bone mics are good and they are very cheap, the behringer B1 is supposed to be alright as a budget condenser, i think the sp B1 is better tho and its also cheaper on DV.

ps. mic is not spelled like the name mike :)
