Are you happy with the 990? Sounds great on those horns.

Yup, very happy. Don't think I could possibly ask more from a mic I paid $39 for. I think they normally go for around $69.

Here's some harmony voices recorded with the 990. You'll hear some editing bumps. They're backing vocals for a larger project and that kind of thing is obscured by the larger picture.

I just ordered a matched pair of the 993s for an acoustic guitar, if I get even close to that level of sound from them I'd be thrilled.

Here's some examples on Vimeo of the 990 on acoustic. They get different sounds based on the specifics of how things are done, which I think is an excellent example for the OP and anyone else. On the first one Born In The Sea, I would have taken out a bit more of the low-end boominess.

Okay, so this might be way off topic but since I've read on other places that Apogee Duet 2 has quite some flaws (true???) I was thinking about getting the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, using my current laptop which is a Sony Vaio.

Specs: Processor - AMD Athlon (tm) 2 P340 Dual-Core Processor 2.20 GHz
RAM - 4 GB
64-bit

Does anyone knows if the scarlett audio interface going to work with my vaio laptop? And the interface apparently comes with the recording programme Ableton Live Lite, is that a good recording programme and is it worth to upgrade to the Live 8?
