Okay...

I have a about £200 (about 300 USD) to spend on a vocal microphone, mostly for male voice, possibly for female voice too.

I have narrowed my choice down to

MXL2001
Rode NT1
AT3035
Octavia 219

To go along with my choice of mike, will most probably be the behringer ultragain (with the tube) or the Joe Meek mic preamp. (cant remember the one, the cheapest one!!!)

Can anyone offer opinions??
I'm not expecting the most amazing sounds from some of the cheapest stuff on the market, but i'd like something that isnt Sh*t. (if you can catch my drift)

Thanks again

I'd add the MXL V67 to the list of mics to check out. They run between $150-$200 US. If possible, try out all the mics on your voice (or whoever's voice you're recording), some mics sound good on some voices, some don't.

Pass on the 2001... and look for posts in this forum by Harvey Gerst - he has some GREAT mic advice...

Yeah, I was gonna say...ditch the MXL2001 and get the V67g (the gold & green one with a shockmount)
You can get one for about $202 (USD) from this place called Abe's music (or something)...they sell a lot of them on eBay.

You might want to consider the new Rode NT1000 along with the Marshall MXL-V67 as previously suggested. There's a glowing review of the NT1000 at prorec.com. I believe its just within your price range at about $300.
