Which mic?

Hello,
Can anyone advise me on this: I want to record acoustic guitar into cubase.
I don`t have an outboard mixer so no phantom power. I also want a mic which I can use for recording natural sounds like trains or dogs. Could I get away with 1 mic? I know some mics have battery support when no phantom power is available. Any advice please.

Audio Technica 822 is probably your best bet if you want a condenser. Will work on acoustic guitar and voice, as well as work quite well in the field.

It's a stereo mic, and it's battery powered.

My only personal experience with battery powered condensors is pretty limited. I've AKG C-1000's and some old Tascam PE-80's. The AKG uses a 9 V battery and the Tascams a single AA. They're OK, nothing to write home about.

CAD equitek mics use a 9v battery (I know this for sure on the e100 and the e300, but I think the others do as well). The batter charges itself off of phantom power, but you can also flip a switch inside and just use any 9v battery if you don't have phantom power.
