Hi,
I pretty much know nothing about mics, so I'm asking, which mic do I buy for the following requirements?
I need it for vocals
Not too expensive
I need it to gig with aswell
And I have a queston, to get sound out of it I need a PA system right? DO these come cheap?
Thanks-

No, you usually have to take them out to dinner and the theatre at least 3 times before they come.

Try searching the forum before asking a question like this. Then you can ask a more specific question that people will actually answer.

Going by your requirements... If you dont' know much and are looking to gig, you'll probably get the most out of a Shure sm57, a live/recording dynamic standard. Its for general use, not necessarily for vox but it gets the job done on anything. Its super rugged so it'll last on the stage unlike most mics used for recording. This way all you'll need is a PA (just a regular ol' amp and speaker) and an XLR to TRS cable, so you won't have to worry about phantom power.

Its the best thing you'll find for around $90.

so for practicing ill be able to plug it straight into my crap old amp? and this will produce sound, or will i need a speaker? will stereo speakers do?

Yeah, SM57, or SM58. Those are very standard mics and have been for ages, and there's plenty of reason why. I've had six of each for fifteen years for live and recording and still don't have a single problem with either.
