I need a new mic suitable for digital recording and I've been confused by the different kinds available. I'm using a Behringer VX2000 vocal preamp and have been advised by Behringer to buy their B2 pro model.
Does anyone have any more suggestions before I order this mic? Shall I go for a cheaper option?

trev - there are a million mics out there. but one cheapie i keep on hearing about is the cad gxl for i think 60 bucks. its all personal taste - so buy it on the understanding you can return it if unhappy. higher priced fare. ive always liked any beyer mic. but cant comment further as i dont know what instruments you want to record.

Thanks for that Manning1..I will just be recording vocals with the mic.

clevT - then that cad gxl. but remember you need 48 volt phantom power on your mixer. if you dont have phantom look for a cheap old used electrovoice dynamic for cheap at a pawn shop. if you get the right one they can be pretty good.
as i said millions of choices. some folks like shure beta series but more money.

would never be without my rode nt1

hi there

i know it's a bit more expensive but now the nt1a is out, you may get a 2nd hand one, but i would really never be without my Rode NT1, i just think it's wonderful - quite bright, but i find it great for female vocals especially.

i have groove tubes and Blue mikes, but there are still some things i sling the Rode up for. acoustic guitars usually get a look in with it.

again - needs 48V

happy hunting
