Which mic?

I think B.L.U.E. Baby bottle would be an excellent choice. I don't know if Latvia is part of the European common market now, but if they are, you might be able to get one (barely) within your budget. A pair of Rode NT5's would be a good alternative, with a favorable exchange rate in Europe.-Richie

Yep, they joined on the First Of May (along with the other Baltic States, Poland, the two former halves of Czechoslovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Cyprus and Malta), but they're not part of the Eurozone yet.

I'm interested in the NT2000. It's a unique design with the variable controls. It seems you could basically eq the mike before it hits the hard drive (or tape).
No, it has a variable pickup pattern and a variable pad (the latter of which seems pretty useless to me). It does not allow you to EQ before you go to tape.

Regarding the NT2000: Yeah, I meant not literally eq'ing, but tuning the polar pattern and bass roll off, both of which change the frequency response of the mike. A variable pad may be (a big maybe) useful on loud sources for maximizing the gainstaging of your signal into the preamp, but I agree that it's very close to being useless. I'm sure they only threw that last feature for completeness of the "variable concept".

Still, the mikes seem interesting...
