For male singer...
For soothing song... mostly R&B, Smooth Jazz... non-rock type...
For Live performance... not for home recording...
With good feedback rejection too...
For tight budget gigs as well....

The correct answer is the mic that sounds best on his voice. Some folks rock a 57/58. Others, not so much. The e835 is brighter on the top end, which may help a smooth, low voice, but it's also more likely to emphasize sibilance, ime. Also, I would avoid the "S" models (with a switch) unless you really need the switch -- it's just one more thing that can break on the mic.

i would check out the sennheiser e840 as its round about the same price as the sm58 but is much better than both the sm58 and the e835.
