i have five tracks that i can use to record drums.
-overhead
-kick
-snare
-rack tom
-floor tom
i am unsure what mic to use on my rock tom.
i am planning on using a c1000s on the overhead, a 57 on snare, and D112 on kick, another 57 on floor tom, and have an option of any of my other mics for my rock tom. here are your choices
-c1000s, ecm8000, AKG D690, Sennheiser e835, and C3000B
(these are all the other mics i have)
thanks for your help!

i would go with the E835. the main reason for this is to reduce the risk of damaging your condensers. i dont have experience with the D690

if you have 2 C1000's, do stereo overheads, 57 on the snare, and d112 on the kick....,maybe use the c3000 as a room mic or at a position to catch the balance of all toms......

I'm with Gidge on the stereo overheads.I noticed you listed the ECM8000's,if you have a pair you could try them for overheads and A-B them against the c1000's.With five channels I'd mic kick, snare, rack tom and stereo overheads. The Floor tom should be picked up well from the overheads.Just my opinion(and I'm no pro)but I really like stereo overheads as they can give you the best overall "picture" of the set.Actually four channels with overheads and closed mic'd kick and snare sounds awfully good but if you have more than four it will give you even more flexability.
