Not sure, looks like it has a few different polar responces, maybe stereo as well

it´s supposed to be a condenser mic...
I´m not sure if it´s for studio recording or videotaping...

Well yeah i guessed that, but looks like it has a battery compartment.. i would say that its for conference recording or something.

It is probably an electret Condenser which are a Bit Different than Regular Condensers...
Some have a Very Good Sound and some are Total Crap, it all depends on the Element they use....

If you know the Model Number you could Probably find some specs on the Net and that way you will get an Idea of it"s frequency responce ,SNR Ect which will give you a better Idea if it is Good enough for Recording....

I personally use a Few Electret Condencers in My home studio and for what I use them for they are Pretty Good...i use them mostly for Miking Cymbals and Acustic Instruments and sometimes for Guitar and Bass Cabs....

You can Find a Lot of Sony condensers on the Net for Really Cheap but not all have XLR or even 1/4in TRS Connecters so it might take a Bit of rewireing to get them to work on studio equipment....

Cheers
