I have a Rode NT1 (not NT1 A) and am thinking about taking the next step up. I am considering these three:

Audio-Technica AT4060
Neuman TLM103
Mojave MA200

They are all in the $999 to $1,099 range. Have you used these? Which is better? How do they compare to my NT1?

Thanks!

Dan

I will use it for Vocals maybe accustic guitar sometimes. I record demos of the songs I write.

the mojavi ma-200 by farrrrrrr.....I have all three mics. The mojavi performs amazingly well on vocals and acoustic instruments. I actually know vocalists that carry a ma-200 to studios to be sure that one is available. The mojavi mic was designed by David Royer (genius) and his custom shop. Get one...you'll love it.

another mic to consider would be the soundelux u195. Sounds amazing on literally everything and the craftmanship is second to none. The soundelux mics are all hand made. Look into it. The u195 might actually be a better fit for you.

AKG c414 is a nice buy in that range of mics...used arround $400

Man there are a ton of mics in that price range. Gosh I hate to say what everybody says to me when I ask questions like this, but you should try to go audition them if you can. They each sound so freakin different!

I would also consider buying from a respected member here at homerecording or gearslutz. You can get a MUCH better value than buying brand new. In fact, there is an amazing mic for sale right now, I forget which site it's on, but it's the ADK CE (Commemorative Edition). It's a $1600 mic and I think they're asking like $750 for it. I shouldn't really mention it since I kind of want to get one again.

Also Lawson's L47 FET and the $1000 Charter Oak mic are good. Of course the Soundeluxe mic mentioned earlier is very popular around here
