Yes

I have owned 2 of the 3 on your list and have tried the others at Giutar Center. IMO the POD XT will give you the best metal sound. Are you looking for modeling or just distortion? Because the MXR Doubleshot distortion is also well suited for metal, but does not do modeling..

Of the ones listed above, I would think POD XT has the better metal sounds, although the discontinued J-Station (still available on eBay) probably has the most believable Rectifier sound.

I hear excellent things about Roger Linn's Adrenalinn II, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. It's more expensive and has additional features which you may or may not be interested in.

Just curious, would you use this for recording, live, or both?

If I just want to get the good metal sound, which is the best select:
1.sansamp gt2
2.line 6 pod 2.0
3.line 6 pod XT
4.vamp 2.0
5.vamp pro
Checkout the Messa Boggie Vee Twin preamp. ;)

Sorry to ad a new question but is the Bass V-amp the best if I'm looking to record guitar and bass?
And also how exactly does the recording work using direct guitar/bass recording?
