Which is the best guitar effects?

There seems to be quite a few good guitar effects in the market now, like the Boss GT3 & GT5, Digitech GNX1 and ZOOM GFX4 & GFX8(what is the difference anyway?).

Unfortunately, I don't have the chance to try any of them.... just want to know what you guys think is the best, in terms of tone & sound and for line-in recording as well.

I highley recommend that you do a search on each of these items in turn, searching all forums. All of these have been covered previously in many contexts.

Just to add my bit here, buying a POD (my preference) or J station will yield much higher results in the long run as opposed to the BOSS multi-units. If effects is what you are looking for then the BOSS pedals should suffice but you should really be looking for a tone/creating your own sound (unless you intend on being a cover band). The POD provides these tones cost effectivley, maybe not until you have spent hours working it out though. Tweaking, tweaking and tweaking is the key. They are there, just gotta work with it.
 
I've got to agree there. I've owned the J station, a GFX8 multiple Boss products and now the Pod:D
Test drive them all,, they all have their good and bad aspects but IMHO the Pod covers the most bases and sounds the best.
