Hey Im Looking for a interface with 8 or more ins and outs under 1000 ive beeen looking at digilabs 001 and the ardvark q10 and the delta 1010 . which guys think is best ill be using a 800mhz pen with 800 ram with windows ME

That's an awfully antiquated system for such high number or tracks being recorded at once.

Windows ME is also absolute crap. I wouldn't be using that system for DAW work.

I suggest you save your money and upgrade your system first.

You could get a decent recording PC for about 600 dollars, then spend 400 dollars on an 001 card.

Decent recording PC for $600? For $600 I wouldn't expect anything good enough for web surfing lol. But that's just me, anyway I agree Windows ME is crap. I've never heard anything good about it, I have a friend with it and he hates it because so much stuff isn't compatible with it, and he doesn't even use it for much more than web surfing and burning CD's, much less using it as a home studio!

I'd go with upgrading before plopping down $300+ for a soundcard.

Where have you been living for the last 6 months? Under a rock or something? You can put together a very fast system for $500 minus the soundcard.

I'd skip the digi001. May have 8 inputs but only 2 mic pres. Not a bad unit I suppose but if you need 8 mic inputs it won't work without a mixer or 6 more mic pres....

Well maybe you can get a computer together for $600, but I don't think I'd want to put a $300+ sound card in that. I guess he could upgrade his existing computer for that much, but what do I know I'm just a newb
