which input channel

Hi there! i tried to use a mixer using 2 SM 57 mics to record drums. instead of inputting it to channel 7 and 8 which i reserve for recording vocals and acoustic guitar, i put it on channel 1. The FD 8 cannot receive the sound from the mixer. Please tell me what to do! are channel 7 and 8 are the only input in recording instruments using microphones

How do you have your mixer hooked up to the fd8? If your mixer has stereo outs (2 1/4 in) try plugging them into your fd8. Also, make sure you have a signal within the mixer itself. If you still don't get anything tell me a little more about your setup and I'll try and help.
