I read on the MOTU website the following...
There's an incompatibility between the NEC chip found in some Firewire cards and the motu firewire line of interface. If the firewire installer warns you that you're running a Firewire card with the NEC chip, you should replace said card with a card that uses the TI (Texas Instruments) or Lucent chip. Keyspan, Sonnet and ADS are a few of the many brands using the TI or Lucent firewire chips. Please check with the manufacturer of the firewire card before purchasing it to ensure it has the TI or Lucent chip.
Well I have tried to find firewire cards that have Texas Instruments chips on them and I can find nothing. Most websites just thrust their price in your face. To actually find out which chips are on the cards is near impossible.
I have e-mailed MOTU's support and have looked all over their website and all I know is that I should look for a TI chipset on a firewire card.
Can SOMEONE... ANYONE... please help me find a store on line where I can buy a firewire card with TI chips on it?
Thanks!
