Following on from a previous thread.
I have a M-Audio 2496 sound card and am now thinking of a DI box to make sure the impedance match is OK.
Can anyone suggest a cheap DI box please

Radial is the way to go. The passive pro Di is their cheapest. And used at about half that price on evilbay.
Give it a google.

Are you sure you need a Di?

It was suggested on the previous 2496 thread that a DI maybe needed

Got a few Klark Di's and they are good.
I've just migrated more towards the passive models (Radial JDI mk3) now.

Here is a review of the Radial J48 and JPC, not quite the Radial you were looking for, but there is mention of the BSS AR133.

I have had very good results for cheap DI's, for example the ART passive, Behringer Ultra DI100 & Ultra DI 400P, I also have a few old home made (from kit's) DI's that sound great. However if you have the money buy a good quality DI like the Radial or BSS, if you don't have the budget check out the others.

Cheers
Alan.

I know you're looking for a cheap DI, but as someone who went through that phase I can tell you that cheap DIs sound okay until you hear what a good one sounds like, then you never want to go back. I recommend the Countryman Type 85 from personal experience. I can hardly stand to hear my cheap ones after hearing the Type 85 used by a bass player I know.

I don't disagree with anything you say about cheap DI's v Good quality DI's, but it depends on how much the whole recording rig is worth, if you have a bedroom studio with $150 monitors, a $100 interface and a $300 computer, you can't justify spending over $100 on a DI. So there is a little bit of horses for courses.

Not to offend, I'm not saying that your bedroom studio is a cheap set up just that you have to taylor the budget to fit.

I'm a hobbyist in the spare room at home so i'm thinking like Witzendoz
