Which amp?

I'm thinking of getting an amp for practicing, rehearsing and recording and noticed a cheap squier 15 on ebay. Should I go for it or would I be better holding out for a better, more powerful amp? Is there anything you could recommend that wouldn't be too expensive and serve the purpose. Also, if I wanted an amp for gigging which would be used both for a strat and an electroacoustic, what kind of thing should I be looking out for? Iwouldn't mind spending a bit if I knew it was going to be a good investment, but like I said, not too much, say around $200 (or £150) max. I don't need something that sounds great, just something that would do the job pretty well.

Thanks

PS i realise this is a guitar thread, but i couldn't find and amp one;)

Jags,

I don't know much about the Squier. But if I was looking for a good imp in the $200 range, I would look for a Peavey Classic 30. It is a very loud 30w. Sounds great for the price. It's all tube. Mind it's not very good for really heavy distortion, but thats why god gave us distortion pedals. Anyway, you could probably find one on EBAY for that price range.

I'd recommend the vox range. They produce in my opionion the best amps for what your looking for. If your looking soley for practise by yourself then you could get a pathfinder (I was going to get you the prices for guitar center I.E America but noticed your not far from me) for £89 http://www.soundslive.co.uk/410.htm
or get one of the cambridge amps that are highly recomended:

You wont be dissapointed,

Thanks guys, I'm a bit wiser to what i should be looking for now and am in the process of looking at the links you gave Krystof01.

Thanks again.

sarge is right...look at peavey...but, if you can wait and save-up a couple hundred more $, you could buy a 100 watt fender twin--which would be great for gigs and practice, and would also work well in the studio if you're willing to pay a professional to keep it maintained properly...it could turn out to be your favorite.
