all right, im considering spending up to 1300$ on a half stack amp and caught my eye on two specifically, im a lead guitarist

IM LEANING TOWARDS THE B-52
the B-52AT-100 with a 280W cab loaded with vintage 30s for 1300$

and a CARVIN halfstack thats all tube too for 300 less for 1000$

or a Vox Half Stack (this being head only)

I'm seriously looking for an ALL TUBE amp and would really appreciate any feedback, I play all sorts of music primarily (oddly) between coheed and cambria and Pink Floyd very much and would love to have that tone from my amp (i kno different guitars are required but im speaking just about the amp)

Can you guys help me out here?

and also is this a good guitar, im thinking about getting it, and will it suit my music needs? I love the versatality and body/neck finishes

actually now im leaning towards the Carvin since I hear the sustain and distortion are amazing, but can the B-52 outdo it?

I haven't heard a B-52, but if it were me I'd go with the Carvin. They make outstanding amps (and everything else for that matter) and because you deal directly with them without a middleman, they can offer more bang for buck. Not to mention their customer service is fricking unbelievable, rest assured you won't be dealing with some guy in India if you have a problem.

yeah i was thinking about that too and B-52 heads are known to have alot of technical problems, the Carvin amp just looks beautiful too, anyone here also have one, what kind of tone does it provide, the site says it should be godly overall haha

For that kind of money you can get into a Mesa Boogie 2x12 that in my opinion will far outperform all of those listed as far as tone goes, and will even hang pretty close as far as volume goes. Also, that vox that is listed is not a tube amp. Of the ones listed if I had to pick, it would be the Carvin.

all right so carvin, and is there a amp that would have similar tone? so i can compare it??

If you can try them all, just do it!!!... and you will figure out yourself what you like. Any of the options you mentioned are great choices. B-52 huge clean and distorted channels.. for me this would be Nº 1 option. Carvin would be the second one....

If you do like Carvin stuff, I recomend the Legacy Series, though they got this new head the V3 which seems to offer a lot more than any other they make.

I would never get anything else than a Mesa (many models for great singing tone) or a Peavey 5150 II.

B52 looks like crap. You get what you pay for.
Carvin never heard since I'm from Canada, but their products seem to be on par with Peavey, i.e. middle of the line stuff.
Vox ? are u kidding me?

what about a fender hot rod deluxe or deville? i use one with a tone bone adapter and el84's. i love it for the price.

Carvin has been around for a long time and they make a good product all around. Their service is fantastic as previously stated. Ya can't go wrong with any of the Fender tube amps, and the Ampeg Blue Diamond Series just kick ass. I have a 68 Vibrolux, and a 94 Ampeg SJ-50 I use for Guitar and Harmonica and, I couldn't live without them.

I think I have a pretty good suggestion. Use the $1300 for a 2x12 combo. It's lighter than a 4x12 cab alone, and eliminates the need for a separate piece like the head. It will also get very loud if it's tube. I play on a fifty watt 2x12 tube combo and never turn the volume past three when playing with my band. Also, with half the speakers you can push the amp more and get a much more genuine sound. I used a 4x12 cab before but it's just not as good. There's too much low end and not enough clarity. You could get a 2x12 extension cab later on in addition to a 2x12 combo if you really want but, IMO, it's overkill unless you often play at large concert halls. For the money that you're willing to spend, and from looking at the amps you've listed, and also considering your style, I think you should check out Orange amps. They are a much better investment and are very reliable. I'm not sure how much they cost new, but a Rockerverb 50 (2x12) is right on your budget.

The hot rod deville is what I use. It's good for sparkling cleans, light drive, and wailing solos. I just so happen not to need it for anything else, so it's just right for me! I'd really like an Orange amp, though. The possibility of having good tone isn't nearly as limited if at all.
