Which 57?

My friend is just starting out in music and wants to buy a 57 brand new. It don't know whether to recommend the SM or Beta; what do you guys think?

The classic 57 is the SM. There's also a relatively new line of Betas that are a bit higher end (with similar numbers, as well as the Beta Greens with different numbers), but I don't have any experience with the newer ones.

P.S. SM57LC: "LC" means "less cord", just so you know.

What the hell does "less cord" mean????

It means the cord (cable, really, I guess) is not included, S8-N. Now if they said "more cable", I'd be asking, "How much more?"
