i'm really looking into both of these products and just wanted to know your opinion on them and the pros and cons on both....

Not of sound mind
They are really two totally different beasts. The firepod has built in mic preamps and a firewire connection. The 1010 has line-level inputs (no preamps) and is a PCI card. The firepod would be useful if you don't have external preamps and desire portability. The 1010 is good if you have plenty of preamps and just need converters for desktop recording. Both units have a solid reputation.
