I'm in withdrawal!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. ;)

Its been hit or miss lately on John's site. He's been real busy lately with the permitting of a studio in Las Vegas.

Guys, apparently the site had some equipment failure while Peter (the IT guy and John's nephew) was out of country - so far attempts at resurrection haven't worked - if you're desperate, post questions here for now and either I or John will do what we can... Steve

Yeah - I'm sorry guys - it appears to be a hardware problem and me being 600 miles away there's not much I can do. My daughter has checked out the software and lines and all appears to be OK in that department.

So I'm afraid we'll just have to wait till Pete gets back on Jan1.

Thanks for all your support this year and may you all have a great Xmas break.

cheers
john

Well, for now i send all of you my best wishes for this comming week.
Hope you guys have a blast and a good Db-full year :)

Hope to post some pictures soon.

Firsthand Audio.

Hope it works out quickly, John! It can be hard with the holidays and all.... but if it goes into mid January, I may have to do something more drastic. <grin>

Everthing is fading... I'm blacking out....sinking into the void....

Ahhh, eggcrates!

Lets see.... the paper ones are for high frequencies mounted directly on the walls and the styrofoam ones are for bass frequencies across the corners, right?

if you mix stryofoam and paper you have youself a nice broad band absorber. ;)

and if you fill them with plaster, you have diffusors! ;)

(continuing the ramblings of an unfulfilled addict)

Interesting....the data stops at 5K. Looks like egg crates absorb fairly well at high frequencies. Of course, I'll have to do something about the fire hazard.....

13 days until I start my egg crate collecting........... <grin>

10 days and counting.....

From another thread John said yesterday:
Peter has established that the fault is the phone line so we now wait for Telstra to fix the line. Should be back next week sometime I assume.

Oh boy, its gonna be close!!!

I wonder if I use the broken eggshells on top of the egg crates if that would add to the ultra high frequency diffusion??? ;) ;) ;)

No, that's what the loose feathers stuck to the albumin residue (as opposed to the Quadratic Residue) are for. For really dead highs, you need egg separators that have (barely) survived a plane crash in shipment - this gives the extra adhesive, which, when shipped with crates of live chickens, yields the perfect "Albumin Residue Organic Full-Range Diff-Sorber panel" - However, recent NTSB rule changes (no shoe-bombs) have really limited the availability of True Albumin-Stabilized High Frequency Down (as opposed to Low Frequency Up) so the costs are now out of reach for anyone who can't afford to shop here -

Which is everyone I know...

Both of them...

My next experiments will involve flexible panels of comressed sheep shit (hey, it was a crappy song anyway) Stay tuned (out, that is)... Steve

Steve,

You're really on a roll (or maybe on the lamb) with this one.

You really need to create some web pages with technical details of all this stuff that can be dropped in as references anytime anyone asks about eggcrate stuff.

Anyway, I hope John's site manages to get back up soon. The traffic here has slowed enough that I'm going through studio design fix-of-the-day withdrawal.

Darryl.....

Yeah, I've (supposedly) got my kid working on a site, but I may end up farming it out instead (hate to interrupt paying work, 'cause I just end up "loaning" more $$$ that way)

There may be other stuff in the wind, but no definite info for at least a couple of months yet so I can't say more for now.

There's quite a bit of s**t headed for the proverbial fan these days, so it will probably be a while before ANY of this actually happens... Steve

Oh, BTW, if that avatar is really you, ya might look at cuttin' back on the caffeine :=)

I could only wish I had that much energy. I have been caffeine-free for 6 months now, so can't cut back on that.

Darryl.....

I was doing about 6-8 cups of coffee and 2-3 Pepsi's a day for a while, til I realized that the migraines were caused by not having a cup just before bed :=( cut back to 1/1, works much better that way.

All I want is to be able to do what my cats do - sleep all day, then wake up, jump vertically 8 times my body length, run a hundred yard dash in 6 seconds, and live to tell about it... Steve
