Where to ask question

Hi guys,

I'm 100% brand new to the forum...looks like I will learn a fair bit - esp. as I know next to nothing.

So a 'meta-question' to start with, here - I want to know where to post a query I have.
Basically, I've inherited a bunch of recording equipment, and want to know what's worth keeping, what i should sell, etc, etc, given what I want to do with it.

Where would this go? Studio building? Recording techniques?

Welcome to the forums man, nice to have you. And it's really nice that you didn't start randomly throwing questions out, quite nice of you.

This forum would be a fine place to ask those questions. Or, if you know a little about what you've inheritted you can go to more topic specific. For instance, if you have some reel to reel decks, go to the analog boards, or whatever. But the Newbie forum is just fine.

if its general here is always a good place to post...people tend to look out to help anyone in the n00b section and no questions are really out of place unless if flagrant spam, sales, or self promotion

if its really specific like a mic or guitar question, use those forums...but posting a list of gear here will get you help
