So the laptop I am using now which is a HP something or other; when I play the stereo system full blast from my van and record to my laptop at the same time and then play it back from my laptop; I can hardly hear it and for what I can hear the sound fluctuates and is most defiantly distorted

People here are passionate about this hobby and take it seriously, and there are tons of people here that will go out of their way to help you. you need to do some research and reading on this site, then go back and read your post, then you may see the problems with it. there are people here that spend lots of time and thousands of dollars trying to learn this craft. blasting speakers in a van and then recording it on a laptop and expecting it to sound like anything other than a ball of shit is ludicrous. and being a rude bastard doesn't help.
 
I hear Toolless's next project is an instructional DVD on how to win friends and influence people...
 
I think we should have a sticky thread of forum suicides.
 
Ironically, my wife left some sewing on the arm of her chair and one of the dogs carried it away. She actually asked "where's my thread gone" almost in sync with me checking this thread.

That actually happened to a cat we had. Started eating from a ball of string. He was quite unhappy about it for a day or so, especially when the other cat started chasing it.
