Where has my Panning knob gone

I have set up a second video monitor and it works fine. However, when I open an existing project the panning knob is not there. Also, when I open a new track, shown in Panning 1 below, it shows panning to the centre (in words), but no way to change it. I have shown also the Mono setting as shown at the top of the TCP. How do I get my panning back - I cannot understand how an additional video monitor can affect my ability to pan. Many thanks, Brian

Fact is, I have never noticed the Mono/Stereo icon at the top of the screen until today. I record in mono and have been able to pan up until now. I changed the Mono/Stereo to Stereo and this did not bring back the Pan knobs. I am rather mystified as to why they suddenly went away - I did not do anything knowingly to cause their sudden disappearance !! Brian

When I say I record in mono, I mean that I use a single mic, or guitar plugged into the audio interface. I never indicate to the system that I am recording in stereo. So far, everything worked fine and the panning did what it is supposed to do. I simply assumed that, as I was putting in a single sound waveform (which shows as a single waveform in the track) that I was recording in mono. In Kenny Gioia's videos he states that Reaper records in stereo, but frankly I do not know how significant that is !! Brian

A disappearing Pan Knob could be the result of changing Versions (6.x to 7.x or 5.x), or making changes in the Theme Adjuster. Sometimes, if it's disappeared from only a single track, it could be from adjusting the Track Control's size.

Problem solved !! I am using a V6. I went into Theme Adjustor and unclicked Hide as appropriate. Many thanks for your inputs, guys. Brian

Should have explained: in the Theme Adjuster the settings were set so that when the Mixer was shown, the Pan knobs would be hidden - not unreasonable !
